## Official results begin after 17:00 Brasília

For the presidential runoff on Sunday, 25 October 2026, the [TSE says publication begins after 17:00 Brasília time](https://www.tse.jus.br/comunicacao/noticias/2026/Agosto/resultados-das-eleicoes-2026-poderao-ser-acompanhados-em-tempo-real), following the close of voting. That is 20:00 UTC. It is the start of result publication, with updates as polling-station records are processed; it is not a scheduled time for the final winner.

Go to the [official TSE results portal](https://resultados.tse.jus.br/oficial/app/index.html) and select the presidential election and second round. Check the displayed reporting progress alongside the candidate totals. This guide was prepared on 19 October, before the runoff.

## What time is that where you are?

These conversions use the civil-time rules for 25 October 2026. London and Tallinn change their clocks earlier that day, while New York remains on daylight time. That difference matters if you are following the count from Europe.

Reference conversions for 25 October 2026, from the TSE's 17:00 Brasília publication start. "After" indicates the start of updates, not final completion.

## How to check the TSE result

Use the electoral authority's site for vote totals. A social post, television graphic or market screen can be useful context, but it needs to be traced back to the official return when you are checking who has actually been elected.

- Open [Resultados](https://resultados.tse.jus.br/oficial/app/index.html) from the TSE's official website.
- Check the election year, presidential office and second round. A first-round page can remain accessible after the runoff begins.
- Read the update time and reporting progress with the candidate totals. Keep blank and null votes distinct from the valid-vote denominator.
- For a regional view, check the selected state or municipality before comparing it with the national presidential total.
- Use the authority's displayed status for an elected candidate. A numerical lead in a partial return is a different statement.

<a id="partial-count"></a>
## A partial count is a changing composition of returns

Early returns are the votes that have arrived and been processed. They are not a random sample drawn from the whole electorate. If areas with different political preferences report at different times, the national shares can change as the composition of the counted vote changes.

For an illustrative example, suppose one set of places reports first and a candidate takes 60% there. If the next reporting areas favour the other candidate, the combined share can fall even though none of the earlier records changed. A moving share therefore needs context about coverage, rather than an automatic explanation involving changed votes.

Reporting progress also needs its own denominator. A percentage of polling sections processed should not be casually relabelled as the same percentage of all votes: sections need not contain the same number of ballots.

First-round night shows how a market reacts to the first returns, and how long it can wait. Flávio Bolsonaro's Polymarket price was 63.65¢ at 20:00 UTC on 4 October, when TSE publication began, and barely moved for twenty-two minutes. Then it climbed from 64.3¢ at 20:22 to 85.45¢ at 20:59, +21.2 points in 37 minutes, and traded mostly between 82¢ and 86¢ until 01:00 UTC, the end of the minutes read here.

## The official result and a contract payout are separate milestones

A market can continue to show a price while the official count advances. Its settlement follows the contract's written conditions and the venue's process. An election date or listing end date alone does not specify the moment funds become redeemable.

When checking a delay, record the official result time, the market's proposed outcome, any dispute or review stage, and its final settlement status separately. Our [settlement-time study](https://vultax.com/research/how-long-polymarket-takes-to-settle-markets) explains why these milestones matter.

## Keep the three screens in context

The [Brazil election guide](https://vultax.com/research/brazil-election-2026-polls-odds-results) connects the sources for the runoff. The [polls-versus-odds explainer](https://vultax.com/research/brazil-election-2026-polls-vs-prediction-markets) explains why a survey share and a winner price can look far apart. The [Brazil room](https://app.vultax.com/predictions/topic/brazil-election-2026) shows current available market readings alongside that context.

On the night, write down which number you are quoting and when it was observed. "Candidate leads the processed vote", "candidate trades at a quoted price" and "candidate is officially elected" describe different evidence.
