The court order

On 8 July 2026 the court at Frederiksberg ruled for the Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, and ordered Danish internet providers to block 98 websites that offered illegal gambling to Danes. The authority announced the ruling on 19 August.

polymarket.com is number 97 on the authority's published list of the websites blocked in July 2026. In total, the authority said, 870 illegal gambling sites have been blocked through the courts since 2012.

The appeal

Polymarket has appealed the order. Vultax asked the authority about the appeal, whether it had asked Polymarket to block Danish users, and whether kalshi.com was under review. The answer, on 6 October 2026, was short: "All we can say is a remand has been claimed, and the appeal is still pending. We have no further comments."

A remand asks the appeal court to send the case back to the lower court. The authority gave no hearing date.

How a Danish block works

The authority first asks an operator to stop offering gambling to Danes. If that does not happen, it asks the telecommunications providers to block the site, and the providers ask the court to confirm that the site is illegal and must be shut off. The block is a DNS block: a Danish user who opens a blocked site sees a page saying it is illegal and blocked by the authority.

Denmark is not on Polymarket's own restrictions page, read on 21 October 2026, so the block rests on internet providers alone. kalshi.com is not on the July 2026 list. Every country's measures are in the Europe tracker.
