Vi IQ: one score, six domains, and the one that is not it

Vi IQ compresses several things about a crypto market into a single 0–100 number, and then shows you all of them, because a score you cannot take apart is a score you have to take on trust. This page sets out what the 6 domains are, how to read a band, where the score appears — and why a column of the same name in the trader tables measures something else entirely.

The 6 domains

Each domain is scored on its own inputs and published on its own row. The set is fixed: a score is always over these 6, never over a subset chosen after the fact, and when a domain has no inputs it reports as unavailable rather than as zero.

Market quality
How orderly the market looks: whether quotes are consistent across the venues that reported, and whether the pair's data has the shape a functioning market produces.
Liquidity health
What stands behind the quote. A tight spread over a thin book and a tight spread over a deep one are very different conditions, and this is the domain that separates them.
Order flow
The balance and character of recent trading — which side has been taking, and in what size.
Arbitrage potential
How far the venues disagree at the moment, relative to what it would cost to act on the disagreement. A zero here usually means the venues agree, which is the normal state.
Volatility
How much the price has been moving. High volatility is neither good nor bad for the score's purpose; it is a condition that changes what every other domain means.
News sentiment
Attention. Whether the sources being tracked are currently saying anything about this market, and in what direction.

The precise inputs behind each domain belong to the published method, whose identifier travels with every score. The methodology is where that is documented.

How to read one

Start with the coverage line, not the number. A score computed from two reporting domains and a score computed from all 6 can be identical and mean very different things, and only one of them is worth acting on.

Then read the spread between domains. A market that is strong on liquidity and weak on order flow is a different proposition from one that is middling on both, and the aggregate hides that distinction by design — it exists to rank pairs, not to describe one.

In the app the score carries a band label — Strong opportunity, Favorable, Neutral, Caution, Avoid — and is clamped to a 1–100 range. The band is a name for a range of scores. It is not a recommendation, and nothing about it changes with your plan.

The other Vi IQ, and why it is not this one

The trader tables in the app have a column headed Vi IQ. It is an activity score: it ranks recent taker recency, volume, fill count and market breadth, and the app states on the page that it is descriptive rather than a return forecast, with observed performance evidence kept in a separate cohort. It has no domains, it is about a wallet rather than a market, and a high value means a trader has been busy across several markets — not that a market is in good condition and not that the trader has been right.

Two measures sharing a name is a naming decision that has to be paid for somewhere, and this page is where it is paid. If a number is described as Vi IQ, check whether it is about a market or about a wallet before comparing it with anything.

What Vi IQ is not

  • Not a probability. It is not calibrated against outcomes and no accuracy figure is published for it, because none has been established.
  • Not a signal to trade. Nothing on Vultax is financial advice, and no band means buy.
  • Not comparable across subjects. A score for a spot crypto pair and a score published for a different subject answer different questions with different inputs.
  • Not affected by your plan. A plan changes how much detail you see, never the value of the score.

What score is high?

The app groups scores into five bands, from Strong opportunity through Neutral to Avoid. A band is a label for a range, not a recommendation, and a score built on partial coverage sits in its band for a weaker reason than one built on all six domains.

What happens when an input is stale?

The table says so and names the stale input. The aggregate can still include a retained value, which is why the coverage count and the stale list are printed rather than folded into the number.

Where is Vi IQ calculated?

Upstream of the interface. Neither the app nor this website computes the score; both display and normalise a published one, and the method identifier travels with the figure.
